One Great Sweet Read

Have you ever thought of joining a book club? Back in 2014, we began our first "cooking, eating and reading" bookclub with Wordsworth Books in Uptown Waterloo. What began as a lively partnership between two small businesses, has evolved into longterm relationship that has held strong for the past 7 years. In this ever changing world right now, it is so important to continue to build strong bridges and keep the ties that bind. David and Mandy have worked hard, just as we have to keep their small independent book store one of the best in Ontario - and we have a love of good food that allows us to find common ground in the written word.

Last month (November 2020) we were introduced to the delightful chef/author - Marcus Samuelsson. Marcus is a James Beard award winning chef who also happens to have an ability to put pen to paper. Yes, Chef - chronicles Samuelsson's journey from Ethiopia to his grandmother's kitchen in Sweden to his arrival in New York City where his outsize talent and ambition finally come together at Aquavit, earning him a New York Times three-star rating at the age of twenty-four. But while stardom follows his every move, it's has grandmother's spice cookies that reminds him of home. If you are looking for a good read this season, support another local small business and order Yes, Chef from Wordsworth Books. If you are looking for a great cookie to bake - visit our Relish Recipe collection. This book is his love letter to food and family in all its manifestations.
